To get into the hypebeast market, National Geographic created its first complete clothing collection dubbed “Urban Tech”. The latest arrives just in time for Spring/Summer 2020.

In the past, National Geographic has released clothing collections in collaboration with brands like The North Face and Element. But now, the TV channel and non-profit scientific organization makes a big step into Streetwear with the launch of its own collection. It is a first for the brand.

Dubbed “urban tech”, the collection has been released with an exclusive license deal with Corem, part of Hong Kong-based Omnibrand Group. The capsule features everything from polo shirts and mountain parkas to hoodies and vests.

As you could’ve guessed, sustainability is the main focus of the collection. For instance, all filled jackets replace goose down with lining recycled entirely from PET plastic bottles. And all proceeds partially benefit the charitable interests of the National Geographic Society (which supports environment conservation).

Seasonal essentials are in the spotlight and they are designed for utility. The hooded field jacket, Pack Tech jacket and Re-Developed jacket are all crafted with ample pocket storage and fully adjustable detailing. Perfect for an outdoor expedition.

In terms of branding, the non-profit logo comes minimized. Only the latter jacket sports a sizeable National Geographic logo inside.

Sustainability comes into play with items like the filled jackets and the Adventurer jacket which incorporates “sustainable cotton”. The branded hoodies and tees are crafted from the same material and are both finished with reflective logos for increased visibility.

Keep in mind that proceeds garnered from sales will benefit the charitable interests of the National Geographic Society.

In the meantime, luxury fashion house Prada and UNESCO join forces to educate Millenials about Ocean Sustainability.
