Adidas unveils a new sneaker made out of recycled plastic waste.
The company plans to use 100 % recycled polyester in all apparel and footwear by 2024.
The Collaboration
Adidas has partnered with Parley for the Oceans. Parley is committed to raising awareness of the fragility of our seas and to end their destruction.
They also work to collect plastic waste which is transformed into high-performance sportswear. Indeed, athletes will still get traction and stability while knowing they are helping protect the oceans.
Plastic Trash
For instance, an estimated 8 million tons of plastic trash end up in our oceans every year. The pollution has formed five gigantic moving whirlpool islands where the plastic collects. In fact, the pollution in our oceans is one of the world’s most pressing ecological issues.
