Dior officially confirmed that the streetwear veteran Shawn Stussy came out of retirement to collaborate on Dior Men’s fall 2020 collection.

Rumors of the possible collaboration have been traveling all over the web for the past few months. Nothing was officially confirmed until last weekend when Shawn Stussy himself announced the project on Instagram.
“Kim Jones has brought me out of retirement to work with him and his Dior family in fall 2020.”

This collaboration marks Shawn Stussy’s biggest project since he departed Stüssy in 1996.
Moreover, it seems like both parties are very excited about the collaboration. Kim Jones, artistic director of Dior Men’s, was, in fact, a big Stüssy fan when he was younger.
“I used to wear Stüssy head-to-toe all the time in my teens. It was something I was really, really, really obsessed by.”

Shawn Stussy echoed similarly hyped sentiments on his Instagram.
“I gotta say here now how good a vibe and how natural this project has felt for me before this thing breaks in a day or so… no matter what goes down I want to thank the whole crew over there for taking me in and making me feel welcome.”

Stussy’s confirmation followed an official post on the Dior Instagram announcing Kim Jones’ Fall 2020 Menswear show.

“For me to work with someone like Shawn is a real honor […] He’s an artist, that’s the thing. If you can work that line like that, and it’s that memorable, it’s like an artist. That’s why I wanted to do it with him. He’s made an iconic image with his hand.”
