The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo are right around the corner and Nike plans to celebrate the occasion with an all-new Air Max 97 “Gold Medal”.
Air Max 97 “Gold Medal”
Nike leaves nothing to chance with the latest iteration of its iconic AM 97.
The classic silhouette has been covered in “Metallic Gold” all throughout the upper and features a leather and mesh construction.
In terms of design, we can appreciate a matching tonal branding, a black inner lining and a 3M reflective detailing on the upper. A transparent golden rubber outsole completes the look.
The 2020 Summer Olympics will begin on July 24 and end on August 9. In the meantime, grab a detailed look at the Nike Air Max 97 “Gold Medal” in the gallery just below.

Air Max 97 Olympic Rings 2020 pack
The Air Max 97 “Gold Medal” isn’t the only initiative developed by Nike for the next Olympic Games. In fact, the brand will also release an Air Max 97 Olympic Rings 2020 sneaker pack, which, as its name suggests, will honor the Olympic rings.
The pack will consist of 5 different models of Air Max 97: Amarillo, Challenge Red, Lucky Green, Photo Blue, and Black. One colorway for each of the 5 Olympic rings.
In terms of design, each iteration will feature a transparent Air unit and a white midsole. The most noticeable alteration will hit the mudguard, which will trade out its usual synthetic construction in favor of soft suede. Finally, the heel of the sneakers will reveal Japanese text.
