Just before the Super Bowl LIV‘s Halftime Show, J Balvin took to Instagram to unveil an upcoming Air Jordan 1 collaboration with Nike. Minutes later, he rocked the colorful sneakers on stage.

As the first Latino artist to ever collaborate on the iconic Nike silhouette, J Balvin decided to go wild. In fact, the Colombian signer revealed a bold colorway inspired by his own eccentric fashion sense.

The reggaeton singer’s first Jumpman collab is crafted from a denim-like material. Coated in an unmissable colorway, the J Balvin Air Jordan 1 features a rainbow gradient from heel to toe. Jagged edges and exposed foam tongues also hit the head-turning aesthetic, reminding us in some ways of the Off-White approach.

Branding details include the multicolored Swoosh across the lateral and medial side panels. The iconic Balvin Happy Face logo also hit the heel of each shoe. Finally, a classic Air Jordan wing logo adorns the ankles.

Black laces and a clean white rubber sole complete the design.

“I like to [style myself] because I’m a geek of it. I go to the past — the ’80s and ’90s — and I walk around New York and watch people’s style, the creativity”

“Fashion is art, a way to express yourself, and it’s what I love to do. I want to change the whole perception of Latinos; I want to show the world how we are fresh, too,”
