Thanks to Mathias Patillon, LV’s head of footwear design for men, we just got a first look at what could be an upcoming Louis Vuitton 408 “translucent” sneaker.

Translucency seems to be Virgil Abloh’s main focus at the moment. In fact, after releasing the iconic LV Translucent bag last year, the French fashion house is back with a Louis Vuitton 408 “Translucent” sneaker.

The unconventional sneaker was revealed on Mathias Patillon’s Instagram on February 25, 2020. The footwear designer posted a series of pictures in which you could see the sneaker from different angles. The publication also included an on-foot look.

In terms of design, the Louis Vuitton 408 Translucent sneaker features a sleek glowing appearance. It’s upper, which is made out of synthetic fabrics, sports subtle metallic accents. The shoe features a purple-ish midsole and skater-style laces.

Branding details include Louis Vuitton’s monogram which is engraved across the toe box and runs along the sides. A solid logo can also be found on the anchor that holds down the laces. The latest is also embossed onto the lateral side.

The result is a heavily branded skater-style shoe that looks awesome when paired with colourful socks (as you can see them through the translucent upper).

Utility-wise, perforations are added to the toe box for better ventilation and to prevent condensation and the heel is padded with breathable mesh so they don’t rub.

If LV’s translucent bag is anything to go by, these sneakers will sell out instantly. Take a first look at the LV 408 “Translucent” sneaker just below!
