To celebrate the brand’s unisex footwear philosophy, Converse will drop its first-ever genderless apparel collection called “Shapes”.
Converse & Genderless
As the first of three collections to debut in 2020, Converse “Shapes” is a new type of apparel essentials. In fact, the upcoming collection is not designed for gender, but for body shape. Converse tries to build the belief that size is a reference point instead of an identity.
The line of genderless clothing, which will launch this summer, is based on Chuck Taylor‘s own approach to creating unisex silhouettes for modern consumers.
“When starting design from a non-traditional place, there are endless opportunities to reimagine everything from construction to sizing to materials. “Shapes” is the perfect example of how to meet the consumer in their element. By bringing functionality, inclusivity and comfort to everyday clothes, we believe we can really change the game.”
Jonathan Tappan, VP, Global Apparel at Converse
“Shapes” Collection
Pieces of the collection are made out of 50% recycled cotton and 50% virgin cotton. The “Shapes” collection features five core pieces including the Bubble crew, the Box tee, the short sleeve tee, the Triangle Front chino and the Triangle PO hoodie.
Normally, there are 14 common sizes for men and women. But, the Converse “Shapes” collection will be offered in four sizes only.
