With the “Conscious Exclusive” collection, H&M introduced new plant materials such as Piñatex, a natural alternative to leather made from the fibers extracted from pineapple leaves, and the Orange Fiber, a fabric made from citrus peel. Rather than ending up in the trash, these leaves and peels are given a second life as fashion materials!
Innovation
Another innovation is BLOOM Foam, a plant-based foam made from seaweed biomass used to create the soles of beach sandals. As for the beautiful jewels that dot the collection, they were made from recycled plastic from PET bottles, plastic bags and bottles of shampoo. The silver rings were made from recycled silver from old candlesticks, solid silver cutlery, coins and loose jewelry. Recycling has never been so chic!
