The initiative coincides with Fast Retailing’s efforts to create a sustainable business advocating for the environment. If you didn’t know, Fast Retailing is the company who owns Uniqlo, Theory and J Brand.
The purpose is to continue to eliminate all forms of waste, specifically single-use plastic due to its overwhelming environmental pollution. The fast fashion store operator also said it will stop using plastic packaging for some items starting this fall. They will also launch specific studies on ways to eliminate packaging for products such as Uniqlo’s HeatTech fabric clothing.
“Environmental pollution from plastic waste is a growing concern worldwide, and Fast Retailing is taking action to reduce unnecessary single-use plastic from its operations” – Uniqlo
